MVSP
MVSP offers various data manipulation features, such as transformation, merging of two or more data files, and conversion to formats such as range-through. Data can be imported from and exported to a variety of formats, including Lotus 123, Excel, Quattro, xBase, Paradox, Cornell Ecology Program format and various plain text files.
Individual data cases can be assigned to groups. The group names are then printed on output and dendrograms, and the groups are depicted on scatterplots as different symbols.
A fully customizable toolbar is available. Also, the data editor and other windows have multiple level undo, letting you reverse any changes you have made in the current session.
Many people have found MVSP useful for teaching, so a special educational version is now available. This will analyse smaller data sets (up to 100x100 rows and columns) but otherwise has all features. Very attractive site license fees are offered so that you can easily afford to have a copy of MVSP Educational for each student. Note that site licenses are also available for the full version of MVSP; contact us for details.
Ordering MVSP Educational
There are five separate types of windows that can appear within the main MVSP program window. Which windows appear depends on what actions you are performing. The contents of all the windows are related to the currently open data file.
When the data file is closed so are all the other open windows. These five window types are Status window, Data editor, Results window, Graphs window and Notepad. Many of the menu commands will act on the window that is currently active (the one that is topmost among all other visible windows; its caption bar will be colored; all other windows will have grayed caption bars). For example, File|Print will print the contents of the active window and File|Export will export its contents.
The Options|Font and Options|Format commands also work on the active window, as do all the Edit menu commands. Each window maintains its own record of changes to the contents, so that the Edit|Undo and Edit|Redo commands will undo and redo only those changes in the current window.
The MVSP user interface MVSP 3.1 is designed so that everything in a single program window is related to a single data file. When you first load or create a file you will see a single window within the main program frame. This is called the status window and it displays information about the current file. You can then open further windows for various tasks.
The combined contents and layout of these windows is called the MVSP Desktop.
